It’s In the Bag – A Symposium for Young People
Published on Thu, Mar 7, 2013 (10:16 a.m.)Las Vegas, NV – The women of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated since 1922, have committed themselves to providing numerous opportunities to make a difference for youth. This commitment is reinforced with the 16th Annual Youth Symposium. Eta Chi Sigma Alumnae Chapter, will host their 2nd Annual Youth Symposium in the State of Nevada in partnership with the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada.
“H3: It’s All About Me – Healthy Choices, Healthy Living, Healthy Generations.” The event will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Girls Scouts of Southern Nevada -2941 E. Harris Street – Las Vegas, Nevada 89101.
The Youth Symposium is a national initiative of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and Project Reassurance. The Youth Symposium will be structured for 3rd --8th grade students with the sole purpose of education and empowerment and focus on STEM, introducing girls to futures in Science, Engineering, Technology and Math. The local Youth Symposium will feature a panel of local community, businesses, educators, and a host of guest presenters. Panelists are eager to share their successes, failures and personal life experiences while encouraging youth to “SPEAK UP” and “SPEAK OUT.”
In addition to the panel of distinguished guests, participants will be provided with health conscious snacks. Further, each youth in attendance will receive a certificate of participation & a “Sigma Sack” filled with goodies and useful information to commemorate the event
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority’s aim is to enhance the quality of life within the community. Public service, leadership development and education of youth are the hallmark of the organization’s programs and activities.
