A Metro Police officer shot and injured a suspect in an armed bank robbery Saturday after a chase over walls and through homes in a southwest Las Vegas neighborhood, police said.
Police received a call around 12:50 p.m. about an armed man attempting to rob a U.S. Bank in the 2200 block of South Rainbow Boulevard. A police helicopter tracked the man to a parking lot in the 700 block of Sahara Boulevard, where he fled in a car, police said.
Officers on the ground chased the man into a nearby neighborhood near Sahara Boulevard and Buffalo Drive, where he abandoned his car and ran. The man jumped over a wall and broke into a home, where he fired at least one shot but did not hit anyone, police said.
He then fled from the home, jumped over a second wall and broke into another home. This time, the homeowner retrieved a weapon and shot at the man, police said. Police do not know whether the homeowner struck the man.
Police cornered the suspect in the home’s backyard, where he aimed a gun at officers, police said. An officer then fired several shots, striking the man.
The man was taken to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. No one else was injured.

Do you get it liberals.... The man defended his home from an armed felon.What do you think would have happened if the home owner wasn't armed. The police were minutes away. you will not see this story in the ABC press reports.

If either of the two homeowners had an assault weapon and had been properly trained in it's use, the perpetrator and his deadly threat to peaceful, law aiding citizens would have been eliminated on the spot.
I emphasize an assault rifle, because they're capable of firing high velocity round that will pierce body armor - something that increasingly is obtained and worn by criminal assailants.
In this case, the police were only SECONDS, not MINUTES away, and the armed perpetrator was still able to invade two homes and fire rounds at one of the homeowners.

simplysaid -- imagine how different the outcome would have been if the man had been the kind of law-abiding citizen subject to District of Columbia-type laws. Residents were required to "keep lawfully owned firearms unloaded and dissembled or bound by a trigger lock or similar device." The U.S. Supreme Court declared that law unConstitutional in 2008. And your petty "liberals" label shows how little thought you put into your post.

gmag -- it's evident after weeks of Discussions on this topic, YOU don't "get" it. Both the federal Bill of Rights and our state's Declaration of Rights protect our freedom to "keep. . .arms." what part of "keep" do you not understand?

OMG! Did you hear that a former Navy SEAL who wrote "American Sniper," a best-selling book about his lethal career as a marksman in Iraq, was shot to death at a Texas gun range on Saturday. At least the guy died doing what he loved to do! I wonder if armed guards were allowed at this shooting range. If so, those shooting wouldn't have to worry about any surprise attack! This shooting was unusual because most shootings usually happen in gun-free zones. I already see on the internet that a lot of people think that guy obama and his most evil government in the history of humanity was behind getting this guy killed in order to keep everyone talking about gun control! There is even talk that the shooter is secretly a Muslim! It's just too bad that there weren't more people at the gun range who could have prevented this from happening because "Only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun"! America can learn a lot from this shooting! If a Navy Seal with this much experience got taken down by surprise it just shows us how much training we better give our armed teachers! It's just so sad how that guy obama and his evil government have forced this whole country to become a shooting range!
The home owner should purchase a semi-auto assault type shotgun with a 20 round drum magazine and this guy would have been put in a body bag.

Disarm the gangs, illegals, violent criminals. Enforce our laws. "New" idea: authorize police pat downs of almost anyone loitering in areas with high crime rates. Rule this as REASONABLE search and seizure and the cops have useful tools without endless affidavits, paperwork, probable cause, funding.

It's called a "terry frisk", it already exists. And let's not look at infringing on rights as the means to an end. That is already what many are trying to do with the second amendment. Didn't you say you were in law enforcement? Terry V Ohio was a 1968 case, are you that old?
Some one send an interview with the homeowner to the NRA.
It's just a shame the homeowner didn't have an MP5 for the occasion...
