Metro officers injured in car crash

Crash

A Metro Police patrol car collided with another vehicle Wednesday at the intersection of Nellis Boulevard and Carey Avenue, officials said.

Police received reports of the accident around 3:05 p.m. Officials said the patrol car crashed with an SUV in the intersection. Officials said they were community-oriented officers, whose primary duties involve addressing neighborhood concerns and working with residents to set up safety programs as well as responding to emergencies.

Police could not confirm what duties the officers were performing at the time of the incident, and are working to determine whether the officers were en route to an emergency.

The three officers were transported to University Medical Center as a precaution, officials said. Police could not confirm whether anyone else was injured.

Metro Police are investigating the incident. Officials said the patrol car did not have any suspects in custody at the time of the incident.

A Metro Police Twitter post said traffic is delayed at the intersection.
