A mother and local businesswoman from Maple Valley, Wash., was identified as one of three people who died in the Thursday morning shooting and crash on the Strip.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 48-year-old Sandra Sutton-Wasmund. Sutton-Wasmund was a passenger in the taxi at the time of the crash. She died of blunt-force trauma.
In a statement issued by her family to the Associated Press, the family described her as a loving mother and wife, as well as a pillar of the business community.
According to the Maple Valley Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce Sutton-Wasmund was heavily involved in local business. She co-owned All Service Plumbing with her husband, and served on the chamber of commerce board as director, treasurer and vice-president over a seven-year span.
Debbie Tvedt, an office manager at the plumbing company, told the AP that Sutton-Wasmund also co-owned a dress shop called the Dazzled Dame. She was in Las Vegas with her business partner for a trade show.
The tragedy here is that these idiot gangstas took innocent lives.
I feel for this poor lady's family and the taxi driver's family!
May God rest her soul.
Comments on news websites about whether she was headed to the airport or returning to her hotel late at night are irrelevant and just distractions. It would NOT have been safe for her to walk the Strip alone at that time of night.
Sheriff Gillespie's promises of a safe Strip are just lies orchestrated to help do damage control from negative media exposure for Las Vegas tourism.
What the family needs to do is get a good attorney ... and although it might not be possible to show that anyone is civilly liable for this tragedy ... there are plenty of records from good cops who tried to bring the dangers of the Strip to the attention of Metro administration and were ignored or removed from their jobs.
Get the records and then subpoena us!

Rule number 1...Nothing good ever happens after midnight. Especially in Vegas.
Big egos and alcohol and guns are a deadly combination.
May the families of the innocent find peace (eventually) in their hearts.
And to the persons who want to make this comment section some sort of unionist vendetta against Metro, well... Karma's a b*tch.
Our thoughts and prayers our with your family during this difficult time. The vermin responsible for these deaths will be caught and justice will be dealt.
