Two people were bitten by a pit bull Thursday afternoon when a man tried to break up a fight between a pair of dogs, Henderson Police spokesman Keith Paul said.
Both people and the dogs lived at the same house near Wigwam Parkway and West Pebble Road, Paul said.
Glen Coffer, 60, attempted to separate the canines but instead became the target of one of the dogs, a female pit bull named “Daisy” believed to be about 6 years old, Paul said.
Another resident of the house, Gianna Silvagni, 23, came to Coffer’s aid and also was bitten.
An emergency call was received at 2:40 p.m., and animal control responded and quarantined the dog, Paul said. The fate of the dog is to be determined, but she will be quarantined for 10 days to check for rabies, he said.
Coffer and Silvagni were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with injuries not considered life threatening, Paul said.
Specifics about the owner of the dog and the extent of the injuries were not immediately available.
My next door neighbor was screaming because her pit bull had chomped on her mothers collie. I grabbed a landscape post, jumped over the fence, and clubbed the vicious pit bull and knocked him out. Haven't seen him since. Good. Rotten Pit dogs need to be put down before they attack children.
