Tonight marks the kickoff for chef Gordon Ramsay’s Season 11 of “Hell’s Kitchen” on Fox, and superstar resident headliner Celine Dion is a surprise guest in the 2-hour premiere.
Twenty contestants begin the awful challenges under the combustible culinary king who is dangling the prize of becoming resident chef under Executive Chef Jeremy Berlin at his new Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill, earning an annual salary of $250,000. Gordon describes it as a “journey of hell.”
For the first time, the contestants have to cook their own signature dishes for more than 2,000 people in the live Las Vegas audience. Gordon doesn’t mince words when it comes to criticism. They are divided into two teams, red for the men and blue for the women.
The winning group gets to meet Celine in concert during a VIP night on the town, while the losers return to L.A. in a long drive on I-15 aboard a school bus.
STEVE BENJAMIN ON ‘CHOPPED’
In head-to-head competition tonight, chef Steve Benjamin from L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon at MGM Grand makes his TV debut on The Food Network’s “Chopped,” where he faced numerous rigors.
Steve will host a swank screening party in The Great Hall of the secretive and exclusive high-roller Mansion at MGM; is this extravagance a clue to the outcome?!
Cristina Olivarez of Diego at MGM Grand, Gerald Chin of Wicked Spoon Buffet at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and, just last week, Royden Ellamar of Sensi at Bellagio are previous Las Vegas winners of “Chopped.”

MGM Grand features KÀ by Cirque du Soleil; Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club; and world-class entertainment at the Grand Garden Arena and Hollywood Theatre.

Caesars Palace features 3,348 rooms and suites in five towers, including the new luxury boutique Nobu Hotel and Restaurant, which opened Feb. 4, 2013, in the totally remodeled Centurian Tower. You never know what characters you’ll run into at Caesars with regular performers like Jerry Seinfeld, Bette Midler, Elton John and maybe even the emperor himself.
