Police have arrested a man in California on charges that he fatally beat his wife with a vacuum cleaner in North Las Vegas.
Authorities say Anthony Tyron Mayo, 37, was arrested without incident Tuesday in Mojave City, Calif., after a collaborative effort between Southern California and Nevada law enforcement agencies and the FBI.
He faces murder, coercion, and domestic battery charges in the death of 40-year-old Beverly McFarlane.
Police who responded to a North Las Vegas home in the 4300 block of Matinee Avenue on Aug. 10 say McFarlane reported her husband had strangled her before hitting her on the head with a vacuum cleaner two days earlier.
McFarlane was taken to University Medical Center and treated for a brain injury but died two weeks later on Aug. 23.
Mayo is in Los Angeles awaiting extradition.
The task force that arrested Mayo is made up of officers from Henderson Police, Metro Police, the Los Angeles Police Department, the FBI and the Los Angeles Police Fugitive Task Force.

Death by a vacuum cleaner? That sucks!!!!
Was it an Assult Vacuum with a high capacity bag?
Sad story, although might make it to late night tv.
This incident is horrid on the surface and I mean no disrespect to the victim or her family. Her family is in a state of grief only those who have suffered the loss of loved ones through violence can understand. Blunt force trauma is a leading cause of death of those killed in domestic abuse cases. There will be an investigation, her husband will stand trial and in all likelyhood be sentenced to prison. To my point, were he to have used a firearm, all the usual suspects would be jumping on the bandwagon demanding more restrictive laws related to ownership of firearms. Those who exploit death by any means to push a politcal agenda are the lowest of bottom feeders. May her family find solace in past happier times and memory.
Vacumm cleaner? really?
It amazes me that people cant find it within themselves to walk away from a situation before it gets so out of hand.
