A 17-year-old girl died Sunday morning after she was hit by a car while crossing Charleston Boulevard near Stillwater Bridge Street.
Passers-by on Charleston Boulevard found the teenager lying in the center lane just after midnight and reported it to Metro Police, officials said. The vehicle was nowhere to be found, police said.
Police urge anyone with information regarding the incident to call Metro Police Fatal Detail at 828-3786, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com.

No doubt she was crossing slowly and thought she was invisible. I see this all the time while driving. Too bad the car didn't stop and render aid. Many drivers get off if they just stay and give a report.
Head down, headphones on, eyes glued to texting or video game. Oblivious to traffic, acting as if they are invincible, or as if they own the road. How hard is it to pay attention? Apparently too hard.
17, still a minor. Crossing busy Las Vegas streets alone after midnight?
It's a different world from where I grew up.

she was not hit by a car she was murdered! beaten and left there to look like a hit and run sorry if this ruins your story! but she needs to have justice and this person that did this to her needs to be found! putting out a false story will not help all of the negative comments about her will not help!

she is my baby cousin and our family is very hurt by this! this is why no one had seen her get hit by a car. she was smart and and not a girl that would have been ignoring traffic.
Sorry for your loss. Just because no one saw her get hit by a car doesn't mean she wasn't hit by a car. Crossing streets in this town is a very dangerous choice, even for those paying attention. The family should be able to retrace her steps last night, who she was with last, no? Why are you so certain she was beaten to death?
Another of our "fine" drivers at work. Most likely drunk, without insurance or an illegal.
She wasn't your regular teenager. She was extraordinary: An A student, a beauty pageant winner, a leader in school, and an excellent student chef who won many awards for herself and the school. She works at the Town Center and apprenticed at Freed's. She is a loving and caring daughter, granddaughter, and sister. She was my daughter's best friend. She had lined-up college scholarships and was going for an interview to intern with well-known casino chefs. She was planning to go to France and we agreed she would visit me there where I planned to retire.
When she smiles, it feels as though someone turned on the lights in a dark room. Her laugh perks up my house. She makes my sometimes glum daughter giggle until she collapses in glee.
No readers, she was not anything at all you made her to be. No. She was not crossing Charleston Ave. She lives on the south side of Charleston. Someone put her in the middle of the street. At that hour of the night, there's hardly any car on that street. I know because I have taken her home and picked her up many times when she and my daughter at times thought sleep overs were better than telephone conversations. I live five minutes from her house. I have taken her to school and picked her up with my daughter. I have taken her to vacations, dinners, breakfast, and malls. She cuts my daughter's hair, help her dress for parties, dances, and proms. She gives New Year's Eve, July Fourth, and Halloween parties for her friends. She turned my backyard into Alice's wonderland for my daughter's birthday, baked her a cake, cooked all the food, and brought my daughter breakfast early morning on her birthday. They were planning a hike Sunday afternoon. They planned to watch a concert in April. She loves classical music and reads a lot. Her vocabulary is amazing and she aces high stakes tests.
You cannot find any better friend for your daughter or son. When my daughter wanted to go somewhere, I always asked if she was going too and I always feel better knowing when she was.
We refuse to accept she is gone. Someone must return her to us. Devastated is a mild word to describe how we feel.
Please apologize for your insensitive comments. Thumper was better than some of you. If you have nothing better to say, then don't say nothing at all!
Maybe she was beaten. Maybe she was hit by a car. Just a very sad incident. I know the news people always report these things in the earliest fashion that they can in order to get there first. Usually the first information we get is faulty. I always try to wait for the coroner's report. Meanwhile let's pray for the family.
People always say there are cameras everywhere in Vegas.......time to figure out who hit her and in what car, then trace the plates and find out some more information.
It's a sad day when anyone gets hit by a car, when anyone is injured by accident or in a contemptible way. Let's hope justice finds the person who left this girl in the street.
