Another inmate from the Northern Nevada Regional Correctional Center has died, marking the prison’s fourth death this month.

Joseph Oxford-McArthur, 31, was found unconscious in his cell Monday and was taken to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, where he died four days later. Oxford-McArthur had been behind prison bars since July, serving a one- to three-year sentence for domestic battery. His case originated in Churchill County.

Officials with the Nevada Department of Corrections said no other details about Oxford-McArthur’s death were available Saturday.

Also on Monday, an unidentified inmate who had been serving a burglary sentence from Clark County died in a medical facility at the prison. Foul play is not suspected, and officials said the man had been ill before his death. He had been jailed since April 2009, serving a sentence of eight to 20 years, officials said.

On Oct. 5, officials found the body of inmate Richard Ferst in his jail cell. Ferst had been jailed since July 2011 and was serving a maximum sentence of 20 years for burglary, grand larceny and possession of stolen property, according to the Department of Corrections. His case also originated in Clark County. Officials said the cause of Ferst’s death has not been determined, though foul play is not suspected.

A day earlier, convicted cop killer Larry Peck was found unresponsive in his cell. He was taken to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead minutes later.

No foul play was suspected in his death, either.

Peck, 62, was serving a life sentence for the 2001 shooting death of Reno Officer John Bohach, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
